The first of its kind in the region
Sight Me1 Exhibition and Conference of Visual Disability Technologies – Middle East, was organised by Emirates Association of Visually Imparied during the period 14-16 February 2011, under the patronage of Her Excellency Maryam Khalfan Alromy, Minister of Social Affairs. International, regional and local expertise will participate in the event which is expected to attract high profile companies and enterprises of the relevant technologies as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The activities of the event, which is the first of its kind in the region, will include workshops, and discuss a wide range of working papers being presented by expertise from different countries. The papers will focus the problems and difficulties facing the blinds. They also represent a good opportunity to exchange views and experiences, which will positively reflect on the blinds and the society in general.
The event comes up in line with the UAE general strategy, that gives a very high consideration to the human being as a basis for the development. In this contest, the people with visual disabilities continue to gain great support from the government and private organizations as they represent an active part of the society and, thus they contribute directly in realizing the strategic objectives.
His Highness Shiekh Saqer Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Association, and Head of the Organizing Committee emphasizes that, the Association always workes in line with august vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahian, UAE President and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Sheiks and the government officials . Sheikh Sager expressed his thanks and appreciation for His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah for the continuous support given by him to the association.
