United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of 7 emirates which are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Um-Alquin, Fujerah and Ras-Alkhimah. The political system of the UAE, based on the 1971 Constitution, is composed of several intricately connected governing bodies. With the presence of high council for the federation consist of the rulers of the seven Emirates, the cabinet is the executive body while the Federation National Council is playing the legislative role.
UAE has a diplomatic relation with most of world countries. It is a founding member of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and a member state of the Arab League. It is also a member of the United Nations, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the OPEC, and the World Trade Organization
The population of the country is about 5 millions. . Islam is the official religion, and Arabic is the official language while English is spoken largely.
Location and climate
UAE is situated in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia on the Arab Gulf, bordering Oman and Saudi Arabia and sharing sea borders with Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iran.
The climate of the U.A.E generally is hot and dry. The hottest months are July and August with some differences in term of climate between the seven Emirates. The average annual rainfall in the coastal area is fewer than 120 mm (4.7 in), but in some mountainous areas annual rainfall often reaches 350 mm (13.8 in).
The United Arab Emirates is one of the richest Arab countries it has the world’s seventh largest oil reserves[ and possesses one of the most developed economies in West Asia. It is currently the twenty-second largest economy at market exchange rates, and has a high per capita gross domestic product, with a GDP of around Billion Dollar.
Currency and Banking System
The Dirham is the official currency of the country. One US Dollar is equal around 3.68 Dirham. UAE is enjoying a very strong banking system. In addition to the local banking network which is covering all Emirates and cities, a large number of main international banking corporations are operating inside the country such as city bank, HSBC, Royal bank of Scotland, Barclays and others.
All the cities and areas of Emirates are linked together with a very advance road and transportation network. In some cities like Dubai an advance Metro Network is operating. In addition UAE has a huge network of international airports. Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports are considered as ones of the most important transit points in the world. Many of the international airlines are operating from and to UAE airports.
Health and Education
UAE able to build a high standard health system based on a huge number of governmental and private hospital operating under a well-designed health care and insurance system. The introduction of mandatory for expatriates and their dependents was a major driver in reform of healthcare policy. Standards of healthcare are considered to be generally high in the United Arab Emirates, resulting from increased government spending .
The education system through secondary level is monitored by the Ministry of Education. It consists of primary schools, middle schools and high schools. The public schools are government-funded and the curriculum is created to match the United Arab Emirates development’s goals and values. The medium of instruction in the public school is Arabic with emphasis on English as a second language. There are also many private schools which are internationally accredited.
The higher education system is monitored by the Ministry of Higher Education. The ministry also is responsible for admitting students to its undergraduate institutions.. A number of foreign universities, from the Paris Sorbonne to Michigan State University, have opened campuses in the UAE.
Museums and Tourism
UAE cities enjoying good tourism potentials which are enables the visitors to spend a good time inside the country and to know the history of it is people. Many emirates have established museums of regional repute, most famously Sharjah with its Heritage District containing 17 museums. Abu Dhabi has embarked on the path to become an art center of international caliber, by creating a culture district on Saadiyat Island. Dubai and other cities also has a number of museums and tourism areas.
